SuSE Linux

Having just installed SuSE on our server, we have connected 1 PC using Win 98 by setting up the LDAP and configuring the windows client correctly. It can see the server but can not access any data stored there. The home directory can not be seen only Groups & Users, but they need a password to access, and it won't accept the root password.

We are newbies to Linux, and have used the GUI YaST to configure users. The desktop is KDE 3.0

Any help will be gratefully welcomed :o(

Re: SuSE Linux

It sounds like you're trying to get your SuSE box to behave like an NT PDC, yes?

In that case, you'll need to make sure your Samba configuration is set up, and that there are encrypted passwrods ready for your users to authenticate against.

If not, please let us know. Your question is a little vague as it stands.

Re: SuSE Linux

Hi,

If you want to use samba server you have to create all usere on your Linux box. The Linux users must have the same password as your win98 users. After that you have to create the samba users with the same username en password.
You can use swat tool from samba to configur this trouth the GUI interface,
