if you are using SUSE desktop edition 8 then I would recommend to upgrade it to latest SUSE 9.2 (or is it 9.3!) because I believe DL580 G3 is new and it is very likely that older distributions does not have support for this machine.

This is the server version. My application can only run on version 8 so I am stuck with v8.

If you are having server version then I believe you are still lucky :), HP supports latest SLES 8 update (SLES 8 SP4). I hope atleast you are okay to upgrade to latest Service Pack for your SUSE 8, the service packs provide better support for hardware and security fixes and application enhancements.

Check the latest ProLiant Support Pack files for SUSE 8 SP4, and you should be able to locate the video driver for DL580 G3 in it.

check this page: http://www.hp.com/servers/psp

Re: SUSE v8 on DL580 G3 video drivers

Thanx for that lead. When I got to that download, if you select DL580 and G3 model, it does not give the SUSE v8 option. If you chose G2, you do get v8 in the list. Hmmm... Would you think that G2 video drivers would work on G3?

Re: SUSE v8 on DL580 G3 video drivers

I believe you can see this page from your place:

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/dl580g3-drivers-cert.html

It looks like the minimum supported distribution for your hardware is SLES 9

You can try SUSE 8 ProLiant Support Pack for G2 on G3 but I am not sure whether you will be able to succeed on it.

Hope this helps,
