Sysinfo

I used the Sysinfo utility for a long time on HP-UX (version 1.75.) Now I am doing a lot of system administration on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS3 and I wanted to check if there is a similar utility for linux.

thanks,
sam

Re: Sysinfo

As far as I know the hpux utility you refer to has not been ported to Linux, nor would it be terribly useful for Linux.

Many people have done their own versions of this with the goal to collect system information in mind.

Possible examples:

- http://ezix.sourceforge.net/software/lshw.html - lshw (Hardware Lister) is a small tool to provide detailed informaton on the hardware configuration of the machine

Re: Sysinfo

Yes Sam, there is a SysInfo for Linux.

Check with your local HP Account Support Team.

The current Linux version of SysInfo is 1.30.

The big difference between the Linux and HPUX versions is the hardware mapping. I recommend lshw for gathering this information.

Sam,

If your local support team can't find the software, have them give me a call or send me an email: craig.gilmore@hp.com
