syslog question
Hello Gurus,
Here is the quick question on syslog on SuSE Linux 10.
How can we redirect all syslog message for a particular user ID into another log file?
Appreciate your quick response.
Thanks
GB

>> for a particular user ID
Syslog registers messages from daemons and services. What do you mean with "particular user ID", what kind of information do you want to redirect?

Re: syslog question
You can use powerful rsyslog to filter messages - http://www.rsyslog.com/doc-rsyslog_conf_filter.html
Check if their forums for any filters based on the user id.

ivan

Re: syslog question
Normally can choose the log file to redirect not user. But following can work to specific userid:
if you use SNMP Trap forwarder mechanism and set specific IP for specific userid as destination address, it sounds possible , but need some workaround to accomplish this.
look for snmp configuration for Linux in google or in forums.
