United Linux 1.0 Service Pack 3 fails to properly rebuild kernel

I have a Proliant ML370 G3 with a running version of United Linux 1.0. After I installed "Service Pack 3" the kernel failed to build or reboot properly. I could only reboot in safe mode. I noticed by searching that some of the problems will be solved in later "service paks".

Re: United Linux 1.0 Service Pack 3 fails to properly rebuild kernel

You are probably going to need to boot off the previous kernel.

On most distributions you can look at a file called grub.conf and boot off a previous kernel. The new kernel doesn't blow away the old one.

If that fails, you may need to recover the server back to where it was before the update.

When choosing to do updates, you should make sure the kernel involved is stable.
