Updating Redhat 6.2 to &.2
Unfortunately I updated my Redhat 6.2 to 7.2 where I had very stable Oracle, Website and more services running.
I am unable to login with any user, (root or any regular user). It is just jumping back to LOGIN:
Can any one help me with this?

Re: Updating Redhat 6.2 to &.2
Hello Ahmed,
Just in case : are you using non-english keyboard/localization ?
If yes, try typing your password as if you had a QWERTY (US-English) keyboard.
Good luck.

Re: Updating Redhat 6.2 to &.2
Oracle Version numbers involved?
I'm assuming you left the old compilers on the system so you can re- make oracle when you need to.
Direct to your issue, if its telnet, the fix is pretty easy.
The upgrade to 7.2 clamps down on security. It turns off telnet, ftp and many other types of login. You need to turn it back on.
If you let it start in GUI mode, thats not a big problem. In the start here programs section is a program for Server configuration. You can turn on or off the services you wish to allow for logins.
You may have additional issues with firewall improvements. check the file /etc/sysconfig/ipchains
This controls the ports your machine accepts and rejects packets through.
Log on at the console.
ps -ef | grep oracle
Is oracle even running?
Let me know if this helps.

Re: Updating Redhat 6.2 to &.2
its not clear that when ur problem with login occure.
is it when linux kernel boot and then asked for login, or form client end?
if its from boot then goto single user mode and try login.
and always remember, if u want to do somethis with ur
?, always take a backup and do whatever u want....
