Upgrade from 7.3 to 9 and IP address problem.

I've got a baffling situation. Thought I'd check in with you guys first before I scratch the damn box.

We have a content filter box. It was running RH7.2, Yesterday we put in a temporary box, pull this one off line. We used the RH9 upgrade rather then scratch because of the content filter app requires upgrading to handle transfering it librarys to the new format. The installation of OS seemed to go just fine.

I modified the
/etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

/etc/hosts
/etc/sysconfig/network

I've shutdown iptables and ipchains.
reran /etc/init.d/xinetd restart

I've reboot soft
and I've rebooted cold.

When I do an ifconfig the OLD address is still attached to this system.

I've check for errors and whitespace in the files and frankly, I am baffled..

Any insights or suggestions appreciated greatly.

Re: Upgrade from 7.3 to 9 and IP address problem.

run also the redhat-config-network and specify the new address,or clean all configurations.
Then define/check the
/etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-ethx
and do
service network restart.

Re: Upgrade from 7.3 to 9 and IP address problem.

RH9 stores the IP adderss in a few possible places.

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/*
/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/*

Sometimes it changes the one you didn't expect.. ;)
