Upgrade from el4 to el5
Hi
i want to upgrade my linux from redhat EL-4 to EL-5 kernel version is 2.6.9-5.ELSmp
in this regard searching the redhat site they giving a command up2date it is applicable only for register os but my os is not register so i need some other way to do

If you want to change from version 4 to version 5, you have to do a upgrade installation. up2date is for updating packages in the same release.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Shalom,
up2date is a tool for updating within rhel 4, to get to the latest version.
If you download and burn media for rhel 5, you can boot off that media and will be offered an upgrade option in the installation menu.
upgrade is not perfect and all applications that worked before the upgrade might not work after.
