Use of smartmontools for SATA drives behind a Smart Array Controller
Can I get a report of serial numbers of individual disks attached to a SmartArray controller when the disks are SATA using smartmontools? The customer I am working with uses Linux primarily and doesn't want to setup a SIM machine. I know that smartmontools works through SmartArray controllers for SCSI but they have had problems with SATA.
