Hi all,
I am a newbie on Linux. Now I have installed Red Hat Enterprise WS, using kernel 2.4.21 on a Proliant server DL145. This box has 2 AMD Opteron cpu's and 8 gigs memory.
Installation went OK, but now it seems that linux is using only 4 gigs of memory. On the internet I have found some pages, telling me to use "BIGMEM" in the kernel. However I could not find how to do this!
Could you please tell me how to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
You can find the Kernel at http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/redhat/9/i386/kernel-bigmem-2.4.20-8.i686.html
this is for 9 but will work for WS too
regards
SK

Re: Using 8 Gb of memory
Could have someting to do with your distribution. The WS distribution might not have BIGMEM available, you might want to get ES or AS. These have enhanced kernels which take better advantage of the increased memory.
