FTP SETTINGS

I have a problem with FTPing text files into my linux RH9 server when it was first set up? I specify ascii but the FTP server would always append to each text line instead of just . The ftp server is a vms box and it ftp's files to my linux system.

Is there a way to correct this in the ftp config?

Re: FTP SETTINGS

Unfortunately, it can't be corrected in the FTP configuration. You'll need to postprocess those files to correct the problem. Perl or even dos2unix are freely available.

Re: FTP SETTINGS

That can be fixed a few ways.

1) use a ftp script that issues a binary command just before issuing the get or put.

2) Use a smarter, safer protocol like sftp which is part of openssh which ships with Linux 9
