vbda hangs on redhat 3.4 server running veritas volume manager

Folks,

We are having a problem backing up our OAS servers. We end up with vbda proc hanging wich cause the backups to run long. I know we can alter the timeout settings, to have the backups abort sooner, but the real issue is when I go the filesystem that the vbda hangs on and run a find, the find hangs as well.

Looks like some sort of file system corruption.

We are using DP 5.5, Redhat 3.4 (2.4 kernel), not sure what version of volume manager.

Error from DP:

The problem partition is not under veritas control, it is an ext3 partition:

/dev/cciss/c0d0p2 51 1078 4194240 83 Linux
