VMWARE ESX Server - Scanning for the new disks

Folks,

New to VMWARE & Linux. We have a VMWARE ESX 3.0 server that hosts number of virtual machines running RH 3.x and 4.x

In one of those virtual machines, I had to create couple of virtual disks. But I was unable to get the system see them without rebooting.

I would like to know if there is anyway to make the system recognize the new virtual disks without rebooting.

Any help will be appreciated.

It sounds like you are talking of mapping a .VMDK file to a running VM, not mapping a SAN disk to the server.

Well, I can't offer a solution, but I have seen this working on Windows 2003 VMs. On the other hand, I currently see that it does not work reliably on ESX V3.0.1 with patch ESX-6921836.

It is not important for me and I don't have time to troubleshout, but maybe this helps you somehow.
