What is wait waiting for?

Does anybody know how to find for which process is wait waiting for?
I have too qiute old wait procceses, but I'm not sure if I can kill them.

Does strace -p PID reveal anything?
Where PID is the PID of the process...

I should said it's on AIX OS.
