Re: Wirless Lan
Assuming it's a Broadcom BCM4318, you might want to use the ndiswrapper for Linux. See:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/ and http://www.partha.com/wireless.html for an example.

Re: Wirless Lan
The alternative is madwifi.
It heavily depends on your Linux distribution and kernel version. To get it working will require the isntallation of of three packages.
The rpm command will tell you what is missing if you try just one.

Re: Wirless Lan
Try to see here if you find your chipset :
http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_chipset.php?chipset=Broadcom
Basically yelow means ndiswrapper, and the few greens that someone could manage to write something for the relevant chipset.

Re: Wirless Lan
Anyway, how is you card seen in your laptop ? Did you update a driver somehow ?
By "not working" what do you mean exactly (seems obvious, but is it that you don't see the card at all, that you don't get to the network ?)

Re: Wirless Lan
If I look into Device manager I do not see the device and if I try to look into the hardware with issues I do not find it.
the Bios is funny as it does not give me options to go into more detailed hardware configurations, unless I have to update my bios
