Adaptec BIOS chipset access on HP NetServer LD Pro

What are the procedures to access the Adaptec BIOS chipset on an HP NetServer LD Pro server? I need to change some of the SCSI BIOS settings to solve an OnStream tape drive issue where the tape cartridge gets "stuck" in the drive and won't eject.

Hello,

When you see the Adaptec post up, try pressing Ctrl+C. That should take you into the SCSI configuration utility.

The LD Pro has an embedded Adaptec controller. To access the SCSI setup, you need to boot to the bios. Use either the EISA diskette or you can access it from a HP Navigator that supports the LD Pro.

You may find that your issue is better solved by your tape backup software.

In one case Omniback (HP's Backup Software) had a patience issue - we didn't wait long enough to accomodate some tape drives...

Our solution - change our time out, and retry the eject a few more times.

Good Luck.
Omniback and NT problems? double check name resolution, DNS/HOSTS...
