Connecting Notebook to TV

I am trying to get my notebook display to show up on my TV. I have an HP Pavilion dv2000. I have hooked up my S-cable to the TV and my computer and the screen is black. Every time I hit the FN+F4 button to toggle between displays the screen flashes white the quickly back to black. Can anyone help me with this problem. Thank you.
