Failed Installing W2019 from ROK Kit ISO on Hyper V hosted in W2019
Hello All!
Thank you for reading and sorry for bothering.
This is my very first threat.
I am a native German speaker, so enjoy.
The Setup I made is Installing a ROK Server 2019 standard License on a new DL 380Gen 10 32 GB Hardware via CD Rom.
Worked. AD is installed for some 5 client computer and very little people.
The aim is to install a second 2019 Server in Hyper V environment.
For testing an Exchange 2019 (Standard)
I would like to decide, if this is neccesarily to be installed in a second physical machine. And if wich one.
a redundant DC would be possible in a Micro Server an Exchange may be not.
My concern was woken up by the advice to install Exchange only on member servers. This one is now a DC.
The idea was to install an Exchange in the VM first.
The VM is ready to install Computers it works so far that the Computer is build V 1 or V2
Virtual Disk is build, the iso made from the ROK CD ROM is made by isocreator and works in other PCs.
So the VM has Memory harddisc and a CD .iso mounted. fine.
The VM Computer starts, tries to boot from PXE and ends with a white screeen after black no boot media.
No Question no hint press any key nothing to trigger alway...
Next i will try a 180 Days test .iso from MS. On that HPE Frame.
So two Questions:
1 how should an OS be installed if possible on Hper V if it doesnt start from boot?
2 Is the Rok License Key valid for the MS Media iso Installation if this works?
Thanks in advance for patintly reading and patient answers.
Greetings Gundel

Re: Failed Installing W2019 from ROK Kit ISO on Hyper V hosted in W2019
Just go into VM Settings / Firmware and change the boot order by moving the VHDX image to the top.
Changing to Generation 2 VM is not necessary.
2.
You have to change the product type to Standard before you enter the product key. It won't activate a Standard key from the eval edition. Try this:
Open Powershell or an elevated Command Prompt. Enter:
DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula
If you are installing from a ROK it's an OEM edition and MSFT probably won't help you. You'll have to contact your retailer.

Re: Failed Installing W2019 from ROK Kit ISO on Hyper V hosted in W2019
Thank You I Haq,
fast response!
Yes the Virtual Disk /Iso is on the top, that was OK.
Keyboard is now working in the VM(self repair after some tries)
the Iso file From Microsoft is starting (just running) the donut rotates.
Here the press any Key appears - the Iso from the ROK Kit is not starting / NO message -> pakey.
License I think will fit.
Is this OK. The DLXeon has not to many cores. It is only one VM, but Media from MS.
So I try what you suggested if it will go so far. tomorrow more
So far Thanks.

Re: Failed Installing W2019 from ROK Kit ISO on Hyper V hosted in W2019
You mentioned.
The DLXeon has not to many cores. How many total core available?
Try to change the ISO file, and try to boot from CD/DVD option.
Sometimes if you try to boot as per license issue, its not booting.
check the link i attach.

Jups
Cores are 10. For me only looking for License issues. Below or equal 16 means OK for me.
I think VMs have no "Core"s counted 2 VMs are OK in standard license i understood.
