Formatting a drive under NetRAID.

I attempted to format one of my logical drives that is under RAID Level 1, through Win NT 4.0 SP6. It wouldn't allow me to do it, and I'm assuming that the RAID setup is preventing me from doing this. I'm having a problem where the drive adds up to 4.0 used spaces but it is showing as 8 gig used on a 9 gb hard disk (which is mirrored through NetRAID). Microsoft's suggestion was to format the drive. Do I have to format it through NetRAID assistant? Or do I have to removed the RAID configuration in order to do it? Have you heard of a similar problem?
