Get Up to Date with Latest Exchange CU7
The latest quarterly Cumulative Update (“CU”) is out for Exchange Server 2019. Exchange Server 2019 CU7 was just published September 15. Two interesting things about it: First off, it’s a full installation of Exchange that includes updates and changes from all previous CUs (hence “cumulative’ update).
Secondly, which may not be as widely known, is that you can upgrade to the latest CU whether you have Exchange Server 2019 or Exchange Server 2016! You can get completely up to date from the previous generation of Exchange, without the need for interim upgrades. Info on how to do this update along with related best practices is available on the Microsoft site here <How to Install cumulative updates>
So what’s new with Exchange 2019 CU7? There are bug fixes, changes relating to how Exchange works with Teams and Skype, as well as an update to the Exchange calculator. Here’s a link to the official Microsoft announcement blog.
Finally, regarding the calculator, this Excel spreadsheet-based tool continues to be of value to resellers, consultants and customers, who are sizing Exchange Server 2019 deployments. It’s especially relevant with new demands around storage media types and the metacache database. Specifics on what’s new with the version 10.5 spreadsheet are documented by Microsoft here: <link to Sizing Calculator Support doc>. This file is also now available on Seismic for internal HPE use.
