Re: how much ram can support

Hi,

It depends on the hardware and the Operating System Edition.

As a quick guide:
For x86 RAM:
Windows 2008 Standard Edition: up to 4 GB
Windows 2008 Enterprise Edition: up to 64 GB.

Please, see below:

Hope it helps.

Re: how much ram can support

For Windows 2003 see this:

The maximum amount of memory that can be supported on Windows Server 2003 is also 4 GB.
W2K3 Enterprise Edition supports 32 GB.
W2K3 Datacenter Edition supports 64 GB.

Whenever you add over 4 GB RAM you must use the PAE switch.
Check this out:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/pae_os.mspx

It goes like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Enterprise" /fastdetect /PAE

Hope it helps.
