hp pavillion dv6000 mouse pad hanging

the pointer on my screen hangs up intermittently and jumps up and down. the mouse pad has no control. the only recovery is to reboot. Any hely is appreciated. Cheers

Most of the time it is a mouse driver however I did not see one supplied from HP.
