hpe mr416i-p - cli [storcli64]
I purchased a NEW MR416i-p Gen 10. Which is SAS connected to a 16 port SSD ICY DOC array in an HP Z6 Gen4.
Upon adding the SSD all drives drop to JBOD. Anyone having this issue use : storcli64 /c0 delete config
Then ran: storcli64 /c0 add vd r5 drives=252:0-14 strip=1024 spares=252:15
Unfortunetly - HP won't let me install the GUI to configure the raid volume, so I am resorting to the 'storcli64'
Questions:
Can I use the broadcom firmware to update the controller?
HP does not seem to allow the manual install of the controller firmware, or am I missing something?
HP MegaRaid software won't install on the HP workstation, and the Broadcom MegaRaid does not see the controller - Did I do something wrong?

Re: hpe mr416i-p - cli [storcli64]
I am not sure I follow... the iLO does not exist in the HP Z6 g4 workstation. I am not running DL or ML server.
My desire
1) Be able to flash the card to update the firmware. -- IBM, Lenovo, and Dell all use ROM files to flash the Broadcom controller, yet HPE uses a proprietary file type and does NOT allow you to load the HPE firmware using the CLI (storcli64) --- WHY? Am I missing something?
CLI Command to load the firmware: storcli /c0 download file=c:\path\to\firmware.rom
2) Install MegaRaid on Windows 11, so I can stop using the CLI to manage the array.
3) Controller personality... Defaults to JBOD... When I try to change it to Raid - it says it can't. This would be nice, but not a big deal, after deleting the JBOD I was able to setup the raid 5.
***** *****
storcli64 /c0 show personality --- shows raid vs jbod
storcli64 /c0 set personality=RAID --- sets default behavior to raid
Looking at the HPE software install steps iLO updates are required. I do see an opton for USB key... FYI... the CLI flash: https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?collectionId=MTX-3f857d7b01734aa4&tab=Installation+Instructions
Controller Details:
Firmware Package Build = 52.16.3-3913
Firmware Version = 5.160.03-3444
Driver Name = MegaSas35.sys
Driver Version = 7.731.02.00

Re: hpe mr416i-p - cli [storcli64]
Hi @Nate47 ,
Please note that the HP Workstation won't support the Broadcom or MR controllers.
As per the Quickspecs it supports only Microsemi 3152-8i SAS ROC RAID Controller.
Please note, this platform will support the HPE products. Please let me know if issue still persists.
Regards,
Shiva_JR

Re: hpe mr416i-p - cli [storcli64]
I installed the Raid controller into the computer, it shows up in Windows 11 as the HPE MR416i-p Gen 10+.
This is installed into Slot 3: PCI Express Gen3 x4 - PCH with open-ended connector*
I used the CLI - to configure the Raid card 26TB usable with 1 drive as hot spare.
I can make due with the CLI, but, I would really like to update the firmware as you see in my post it out of date. When I use the command line to initiate the manual update from Broadcom, the update fails. I can't use HP tools, because HP uses proprietary files, and it HP required ILO to update.
There should be a way to update the firmware outside of ILO.

Re: hpe mr416i-p - cli [storcli64]
Is there an offline tool to update the firmware in a NON DL | ML box?
Broadcom does support ROM flashing, but your file type does not inlcude a ROM for me to use. When I tried using the Broadcom ROM the flash failed.
