Installing Broadcom driver 6.2.8.0/6.2.16.0 disables nics
This is no new issue, but I'm pretty amazed that this hasn't been fixed yet (the driver is from february!).
We have alot of DL380 G2, G5, G6 and G7s (and BL460c G6s) with various operating systems (Windows Server 2003/2008/2008R2).
We use VCRM and VCAGENT to update drivers and firmware on all our servers, and ever since we started upgrading our HP NC-Series Broadcom 1Gb/10Gb Multifunction Drivers from version 5.2.22.0 it has been a bloody mess!
When updating the drivers via the Version Control Agent, it seems some parts of the drivers aren't installed correctly, or something isn't initialized properly. When the server reboots with the new drivers, the NICs aren't working.
The fix we've found so far, is to re-install the driver manually. That springs the NICs back to life, but now they appear in the device manager as HP NC373i Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter #69 / #70 / #random high number.
This also happens when installing the drivers manually...
What are you guys doing about this? - And more important - is HP doing anything about this???
