SATA RAID 1 on ML 110 G5 - 2008 R2 x64 server install fails

I have an ML 110 G5 small server, running single SATA 250GB disc. I'd like to run RAID on this and have two identical 250GB discs to run RAID 1.

I have upgraded the BIOS and configured RAID 1 no problem. The Windows 2008 R2 x64 disc boots and install commences. Upon prompting, I can choose the approved SATA RAID driver (downloaded from HP Support website) and Install appears to complete.

However, upon reboot, there is no operating system. Subsequent attemtpts to install 2008 Server fail, unless the RAID array is removed and re-added, then the install completes and reboot fails again.

There seems to be a few posts about this but no clear solution - I would be grateful if anyone can shed any light on how to make a 2008 server R2 x64 install work on RAID 1 dual SATA Array.

Alternatively, what card would I need to buy to have RAID1 or RAID 5 on this server using SATA discs?

Thanks, Jonathan
