slow printing on windows 2008 and universal print driver
Hi,
I just moved our print server from windows 2003 x86 to windows 2008 sp2 x64. All of our HP printers now have extremely slow printing problems. printing in excel takes 2 minutes for 1 page. printing a 1 page word document takes 1 minute 10 seconds. printing a report from an access database takes 5 minutes. All of the printers use the HP universal driver 4.7. The windows 2008 server (standard edition) is fully patched. The clients are windows 2000 SP4 update 1 and XP SP3 and they are fully patched. We use Office 2000 SP3 and 2003 SP3 both fully patched. Nobody has the print speed like they did on the windows 2003 server.
I did a google search and several others have this problem. The usual suggestions haven't worked:
To disable TCP Chimney Offload, follow these steps:
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
To disable RSS, follow these steps:
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh int tcp set global RSS=disabled
To disable 'Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level', follow these steps: :
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
I have unchecked the following option: Render print jobs on client computers
I have also selected a printer right clicked, printer properties, Advanced, unchecked Enable advanced features
What else can I try?

Re: slow printing on windows 2008 and universal print driver
I have the same problem.
I tried disable ipv6 too.
I think that the problem is on spooler of windows 2008 server

Re: slow printing on windows 2008 and universal print driver
Has anyone ever got a resolution for this issue? We are experiencing the same exact issues with Windows Server 2008 and HP Printers.

Take properties on your printer, chooose
advanced settings and scroll down to the bottom of this page. Use either color
or monochrome in device type, depending on your printer model. This made it for us, the auto detect seems to slow down the communication with the printer.
