using different HP servers for HYPER Live migration + failover
Hello,
I have 3 HP dl365G5 configured with failover with clustering.they each have
2 x Amd Opteron 2356.
I found out that the dl365 model has been discontinued. i know that live
migration require CPU from the same manufacturer. HP tech support was telling
me that it would work with dl360, which is intel based servers. That's one
misinformed tech support. i figured i asked others before i buy my server.
my only option is now using DL385G6. this model comes with 6-core AMD
opteron 2400 series processors. does anyone know if this will work with my
dl365G5(which have Amd opteron 2300 serioes quad-core in them)?
does anyone have this configuration? do you need to turn on compatibility
mode on for live migration? or will it run natively?
there is also another option to use DL385G5p, it uses quad core AMD Opteron,
but the processors in these series don't exactly match the processor in my
DL365G5. Both are quad core opteron, but they have different model(e.g.
Opteron 2356 VS Opteron 2389). will this work?
If anyone could shine a light, i'd really appreciate it!
