Windows Error concerning driver "pciinfo.sys"
Hello,
after the installation of "Windows Server 2008 (64-Bit)" on a ProLiant DL360 G5 machine the two following errors appear in Windows' System Event Log:
1. \SystemRoot\SysWow64\Drivers\pciinfo.SYS has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.
2. The pciinfo service failed to start due to the following error: This driver has been blocked from loading
These errors don't occur in the 32-Bit Version of Windows Server 2008 installed on the same machine. So my questions are:
1. Which impact does the absence of this driver have on a Windows System?
2. Is there a compatible driver for Windows 64-Bit as described in the first error message?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Re: Windows Error concerning driver "pciinfo.sys"
Hi:
Have you installed the PSP (Proliant Support Pack) 8.3?

Re: Windows Error concerning driver "pciinfo.sys"
Hi Roger,
thank you for your answer. PSP 8.25 was installed on the system, so I've tried an update with the current version 8.3 as you have recommended me. I got the following results.
The version of the component "PCI-express Power Management Update" (cp010920.exe), I guess that the file "pciinfo.sys" belongs to this component, has not changed from PSP 8.25 to 8.3. I received the message "The software is installed and up to date. The installation process does not need to continue.".
As a second step I installed the PSP 8.3 completely with default settings, but it didn't fix the problem too. The errors still occur after each reboot.
Can you tell me, which possible impacts the absence of this driver have? At the moment the system seems to run without difficulties, but currently neither a database nor an application is installed on the system. Would you recommend to continue searching for a solution of this problem, or just to ignore the messages?
Thank you!
