550 %UCX-E-SMTP_NOSUCHUSER, No such user, etc...

Hi,

I've been approached by users from three separate applications on three separate VMS servers using three different versions of the OS/TCP protocols, all of whom use SMTP to send mail both to their Exchange mailboxes and to cellphones.

It appears that the MS Exchange accounts are receiving messages normally, while SMS messages are being bounced back with a

"550 %UCX-E-SMTP_NOSUCHUSER, No such user, etc.,"

error message.

Since it seems incredible to me that three separate installations of UCX/TCPIP could simultaneously have developed the same problem, I have to assume that the problem lies with the receiving SMS server, which uses XIAM.

Nothing has changed or been upgraded on the VMS side in the last year, and I'm reasonably certain that the applications haven't made any changes either.

I'm satisfied the problem must be on the XIAM server side, but I was just wondering if anyone had seen anything similar or had any ides?

Thanks,

Bob

I once had a problem that my mail bounced because the mail server validated the stuff behind the @. And on VMS that contained something non-existing. To change : set conf smtp /subst=(hp.com,hidden).

Wim,

Thanks, however we worked out where the problem was - turned out to be on the XIAM server, as I thought.

A restart of the XIAM services resolved the problem.

Thanks for the help,

Cheers,

See above - not a VMS problem (no surprises there)...
