7.3-2 Fibre_scsi-v0600 patch withdrawn

This is a notice for others. I had a copy of the fibre_scsi-v0600 that I downloaded a couple weeks ago. I wanted to just review all the patch notes when I noticed I could not find this one. I called in and found that this one was found to leave some systems unbootable. There is a v0700 on the way. This is given to people who are in the unbootable state. If you download and save patches like I do, check for this one!!

Mike: Thanks! "After installation of the VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0600 patch kit, the system disk, if fibre-channel-based, may become unbootable."

Obviously this quick removal of ecos indicated an eco had a problem. Keep your eye out of the next version.

If you install with /save
if will let you bck it out.

Re: 7.3-2 Fibre_scsi-v0600 patch withdrawn

It's really a shame that such things officially are only told if you make a call.
V5 was buggy even and withdrawn shortly after its presentation.
We have V6 running on several SAN clusters (fortunately without any problem) and I've also noticed that suddenly the patch was no more available. But in the eco master list (ftp side) it is still mentioned till today !!! Without any hint in the row "COMMENTS" !!!!!
And the buggy HBMM V1 eco is also there (besides V2) still available for download ...

OpenVMS - great !
Patches - not too many, great !
Notifications - poor !

So thanks to you Mike (and not to HP).
Cheers,
EW
