Advanced Server 7.3-A4 Shutdown Alerts

How do I disable the alerts messages that
Pathworks was shutdown ? Any server in the
domain running 'Windows Messenger Service'
posts the message whenever Advanced Server
is shutdown on our test Alphaserver running OpenVMS 7.3-2(doesn't happen on our production box).

I do not have the Alert service running.

Re: Advanced Server 7.3-A4 Shutdown Alerts

Pete,

AlertNames is a registry key defaulting to "Administrator" (see Server Administrator's Guide page A-18). This causes each user to be notified which is member of the administrators group. Change it to some other name, possibly to the name of the AS responsible.

See chapter 7.2 and 7.2.3 in the same manual for how to change registry values.

Thanks Edwin.

I didn't even consider this to be a registry
issue, but I was able to get in there and
stop the alerts.

Thanks a lot!
