alpha can't see hsz70 disks!

One of my sites has had HP replace a hsz70
controller board. they can see the mirror
sets, unit disks fine from the controller.
the alphas were rebooted, but the only disk
we can see is the system disk. I did a
sysman io auto, but still can't see the
disks. anyone seen this before? the production
system is down until we get this fixed! I
have asked them to print out the congig and
try a power cycle on everything, a wag to see
if the alphas will see disks. any other ideas? tx Dean

Re: alpha can't see hsz70 disks!

Hi Dean,

Maybe the units are offline for some reason...

Do a "show units" and then for each unit, check that the status is online. "show d1" etc. (depending on the unit name).

There will usually be some clue in there as to what the problem is.

A "show this" and/or "show other" may also show a problem that could be causing all the units to be offline - duff batteries would be an obvious guess...

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Rob

Re: alpha can't see hsz70 disks!

got it, the copy command did not copy
over the preferred targets. he needed to
do a..

set other id=(8, 9, 10, 11)

..only a cpl hours of production lost,
but it queues up. it'll run tonight.

tx for the help! Dean

Re: alpha can't see hsz70 disks!

Dean,

I assume you mean "set failover copy=xxx" as "copy command".
Why were the id's not copied ? The manual says that they are automatically updated when modified so I would expect them to be copied too.
And why was production down when you have a dual controller ?

Wim (living with hsz70 but didn't do the setup)

Re: alpha can't see hsz70 disks!

Hi Wim, the HP guy thought it should copy
it to. then contacted his support and they
said no you have to set that by hand (?)

when he did the failover copy, the alpha
nodes lost connection. a full power cycle
didn't cure the problem. its like the
target information was wiped out, but resetting the target scsi ids. cured the problem
