OpenVMS engineering has fixed the bug and provided a new SYS$VM.EXE temporary image. SMP systems with VMS82A_SYS-V0300 installed and running pthreaded applications with MULTITHREAD > 1 may be affected by this SPLACQERR crash in EXE$WAKE_BLOCKED. Reducing MULTITHREAD < 2 may be used as a quick workaround.

I've spent last week at the OpenVMS Bootcamp in Nashua together with all the OpenVMS Engineers, so it was quite easy to get this solved within 48 hours after the initial crash - but it does not always work like this ;-)

If someone else incurs this problem, wait for the next VMS82A_SYS kit or raise a call with HP referencing this thread. Consider to NOT install VMS82A_SYS-V0300 yet, if you may be affected by this problem (see above for details).

week (our kitting guru is out of the
office this week).

A new SYS kit with a new SYS$VM image
containing the fix for this problem will

Both patches have been released on 12-JUN-2006.
