Re: Backup Error.. Any ideas???

ALLOCMEM, error allocating virtual memory

Facility: BACKUP, Backup Utility

Explanation: An error occurred during an attempt to allocate dynamic virtual memory.

User Action: Take action based on the accompanying message. It may be necessary to increase either the page file quota of the account or, on VAX systems only, the SYSGEN parameter VIRTUALPAGECNT.

You have not yet given us any idea of what version of the O/S you are using.

Try looking at your account quotas, in particular PGFLQUOTA

Re: Backup Error.. Any ideas???

Robert,

looking at that virtual address, %xFA0100, this represents decimal 16384256 - or about 32000 pagelets, or 2000 8K pages.

This would certainly seem to suggest that the pgflquo for the account running the backup was way too low.

Do you have any details of the process quotas for the account which was running the backup, and any details of the backup command itself.

Re: Backup Error.. Any ideas???

Apply current patch kits for whatever architecture and version is involved here for mandatory fixes and for BACKUP (if there's a BACKUP kit), and set your BACKUP operator username process quotas per the manuals.

I've transcribed various of the quota recommendations here:

Robert,

Lest we speculate fruitlessly, could you please do a $ MCR AUTHORIZE SHOW/FULL and post the plain text output here?
