Re: /backup/list how to (error)
Either Steven's program, which was the very first reply and would solve yoru entire problem if acted upon correctlty.
Or the program I refered to in my first reply. Either will fix the problem you are facing in one go, ... if it is just the blocksize thing. Just go back, read and execute.

'von' = German (or Austrian or ...)
Indonesian food is a big specialty in Holland. That old colonalism was at least good for something.

Re: /backup/list how to (error)
mcr []fixrec.exe_decc
not:
mcr fixrec.exe_decc
The "[]" was significant.
Or, you could copy fixrec.exe_decc to
$10$DIA0:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.SYSEXE]. Your
choice, but you need to do one of them.

Re: /backup/list how to (error)
So, after that, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO?
Your original complaint was that the BACKUP
/LIST command failed. I assume that it
works now, or else you would have told us
what went wrong.
> btw my VMS Version 5 that's is Old Version?
That depends. Would you call 24-SEP-1992 old?
For a woman, it's not old enough. For a
computer operating system, it may be getting
a little stale.

Re: /backup/list how to (error)
That's not amazing. That program has always
worked. The amazing thing is that anyone is
trying to read 16-year-old 9-track BACKUP
tapes. (And perhaps that it took him three
days to figure out how.)
I suppose that it could be worse. It might
have said "/DENS=1600" (or less).

The basic features should still work, even at
V5.5-2.

Re: /backup/list how to (error)
As suggested by Steven, first use the built in HELP in VMS. It will be more in synch with the version of backup you have. What you learn on VAX/VMS 5.5-2 will be relatively unchanged as you move forward.
Steven,
You additions to the soup did add some nourishment, after all. I guess it just needed to cool off some before it was tasted. :-)
