connectivity service desk database of to remote database

hi all,
i am facing one problem during
sd installation how to connect sd database to
remote database ,
in installation process i have already install following -
1- o.s. win2k3 with spi
2--install jre 1.3
3- install server
4- sdk 1.3
5- service page
6- client
after doing above things
when we connect database of hp openview service desk 4.5 to remote database it is unable to connect
when we open application server, open the server setting editor in database account
giving the following message--
FAILED TO OPEN CONNECTION TO SERVICE DESK REPOSITORY CONNECTION
and we have already menstion port no 1433
and 1399
