Re: DE500-BA and OpenVMS 6.2
do you really have a DE500-BA ?
What does SDA> CLUE CONFIG say ?
And SDA> SHOW LAN/DEV=EW
...
Device name: ?
...
Hardware Version: ?
...
According to the FAQ, Hardware Id should be: 02000030 = -BA, 02000020 and 20000022 = -AA

Re: DE500-BA and OpenVMS 6.2
thanks. This confirms, that a DE500-BA works on an AlphaServer 2100 V6.2-anything, if ALPCPU0907_062 is installed.
The open question is, why does it work with just ALPLAN04_062 installed (which added support for DE500-AA), when DE500-BA support is supposed to be added in ALPLAN05_062 (or higher) ?
What's the link date of your SYS$EWDRIVER_DE500BA.EXE ? Does SDA> SHOW DEV EW really show SYS$EWDRIVER_DE500BA as being used ?

Re: DE500-BA and OpenVMS 6.2
Link date 4-mar-1998 17:03.
Show dev gives sys$ewdriver_de.
And it is used because the in/out counters are very high.

Re: DE500-BA and OpenVMS 6.2
thanks for the information about the link date.
The requirement for needing to install the CPU patch kit was included in ALPLAN05_062 patch description, but dropped from ALPLAN06_062:
If the DE500-BA Fast Ethernet adapter and/or the RACORE Token Ring adapter is to be supported, then the appropriate ALPCPU* routines remedial kit must be installed.

Re: DE500-BA and OpenVMS 6.2
Looks like ALPCPU0907_062 is the missing piece.
AXPGUP01_06 is patch for motiff. It is not used, so I do not think it is needed (but it is not a problem to install it).
Patch will be installed on friday this week (it is a production server). Hope it would work. I will also install ALPBOOT13_062 if needed.
On monday next week I will assign points (with pleasure!).
In the meantime any suggustion and idea is wellcome.

Re: DE500-BA and OpenVMS 6.2
I installed patch ALPCPU0907_062. Everything works fine!
That was the missing piece.
So DE500-BA works on OpenVMS 6.2 with ALPLAN05_062 and ALPCPU0907_062.

Re: DE500-BA and OpenVMS 6.2
FWIW, I wouldn't recommend "upgrading" to 6.2-1H3 as it can turn into something of a blind alley where you can't upgrade without initializing the system disk!
