Decserver firmware for 700-16

Hi folks,

I've the task to print from HP-UX (I know i'm in the VMS forum :-D) to Printers which are plugged to Digital Decservers 700-16.

They've NAS SW V1.5 loaded. This version has never heard from LPD!

Now my question: Does anybody has a version for me for DS 700-16 which supports LPD??? (that i can take a sneak preview on it and can test if printing from HP-UX is satisfying our needs)

I don't think there is a LPDserver in any DECserver.....

Can't you use raw socket ? or relay the queue through a Windows server ( that use raw socket ) ?

VMS uses it!

VMS can LPDserve its already existing queue(s).

Talk to the admin of the VMSserver.
If they don't know how to setup the LPDserver,
let me know.

You misunderstood me.
I want to print from HP UX via a lpd queue to the decserver as a remote printer. This is supported with NAS Software V2.2 for the Decserver(includes lpd on the decserver!!!)! And I need a WWENG2.SYS with this Version!

For (less than) US$400, replace the DECserver with a more capable and interoperable printer server. The Lantronix EPS2-100 might work here, for instance. Likely minimal changes from the OpenVMS box, and OpenVMS and the other hosts can also use IP protocols. And I'm sure there are alternatives.

some releases of the DECserver 700 software are supposed to contain a SPOOL.C or DS7-UNIX-SPOOL.C example C program to be used for printing/spooling from U*X operating systems. This file may be found in the SYS$SYSROOT:[DECSERVER] directory.
