DECwindows keyboard problem

AlphaServer ES45 OpenVMS V7.3-1

This system is about 25-30 metres from the keyboard using a Black Box keyboard/mouse extender. They have tried a LK461-A2 keyboard and a LK411 (3X-LK41R-AA) keyboard. They want to use all the keys (DO, FIND, SELECT, F17-F20 etc).

The CDE Style Manager knows about the LK401 keyboard but does not recognise the keyboards being used.

Any suggestions as to how to get this keyboard to work or suggest a keyboard with a LK401 layout and a PS2 style connector that will work.

Re: DECwindows keyboard problem

Ian,

the 'Black Box' may be the problem here. Do the keyboards work if directly connected to the ES45 ?

Re: DECwindows keyboard problem

Ian,

I am afraid that Volker is right. Has similar problems with a keyboard/mouse extender.

The extenders are usualy made for PC keyboards and are not compatible with LK keyboards.

The Black Box product is a ServSwitch Brand CAT5 KVM Micro Extender Kit
, part number ACU3009A.

Re: DECwindows keyboard problem

Ian,

No, it was more than one year ago but if I remember it was the same: DO, FIND, SELECT, F17-F20 , keypad COMMA does not work.

I tested with a LK461 (VT 520) keyboard.

Re: DECwindows keyboard problem

When looking I did find http://minicom.com/support/miniuserguidea.pdf
which does mention VMS
