Determining ECO Level for HP TCP/IP Services

How do I determine the current ECO level of my
HP TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Alpha Version V5.4
on a AlphaServer 4100 5/400 4MB running OpenVMS V7.3-2

Rule of thumb: assume you're down-revision.

When you have ECOs (for TCP/IP Services) they show up as an ECO. (Why the display here doesn't show "no ECOs" or other such text is certainly fodder for an enhancement for a future release of TCP/IP Services.)

As for locating the ECO kits, start at...

Navigate to the layered products area here (given TCP/IP Services is considered an LP), and look around for the current TCP/IP Services patch.

When I use Prod Show, none of my products list ECOs, but I'm certain many some have been applied.

There's always "/FULL". With my weak psychic
powers, it's hard to determine what you did
or what you saw when you did it. Even less,
what might "have been applied".

"DEC AXPVMS TCPIP V5.4-15ECO7" is a "Full
LP", so "/FULL" doesn't buy much, and the
narrow edition pastes better here.

If you have a case of that that can be replicated, then I suspect HP might be interested in the details.

In general, if no patches show up with a PRODUCT SHOW PRODUCT /FULL operation, then either there's no ECO kit applied, or the ECO kit was shipped as a full kit and not as a patch kit (which is fairly common for TCP/IP Services), or the kit did not use PCSI to install its patches.

Regardless of that particular discussion, what you are showing for the TCPIP product here has had no ECO applied.

This whole area is archaic and arcane, and different OpenVMS products can and do handle, package and display their ECO kits and ECO levels differently, yes.

I was using the correct commands for displaying Version/ECO levels. Some of the full kits include the ECOs, so probably the reason they are not displayed.
