Discovering SAN Volumes on HP XP10000 with OpenVMS 7.2-1 on Alpha ES40 Server
Dear Sir/Madam
kindly can you advice what are the minimum requirements for discovering and assigning SAN volumes configured on HP XP10000 storage array with Alpha Servers ES40 running OpenVMS 7.2-1 and has the Host card 1G/S FC DS-KGPSA-CA (168794-B21).
Thx and best regards

Re: Discovering SAN Volumes on HP XP10000 with OpenVMS 7.2-1 on Alpha ES40 Server
If you're in a hurry here, call in an organization that specializes in performing OpenVMS and FC SAN configurations.
As a starting point, please have your team upgrade this OpenVMS Alpha configuration to V7.3-2 and preferably to a more recent release than V7.3-2, and then load the current FC SAN patches and the current UPDATE patches.
The FC SAN interfaces in older releases are comparatively unstable, and there are various known bugs.
I'd then Google for and read through the available FC SAN configuration documentation for OpenVMS Alpha and then the documentation for the particular storage controller involved, XP1000, MSA1500, etc., as this sequence has been documented in some detail, and it's rather more than can be included in a forum posting reply. (FC SANs aren't exactly user-friendly, which means there's a pile of documentation.)
