Encryption Performance

Hi,

I am finding that when using OpenVMS encryption, my backups are taking about 50% longer. I understand that there is a hit when using encryption, but does anyone know of a way to mitigate this problem?

We are using the default AESCBC128.

I did some performance testing on OpenVMS encryption a while back. It is very CPU-intensive. I would recommend that you work on improving the BACKUP performance from the CPU angle (i.e. depending on your environment, increasing process priority, etc.)

OK, thanks. From what I've read, with AES on 8.3 over DES on the older version of Encryption for OpenVMS, there's supposed to be a performance boost and I was wondering why I was not seeing it.
