we have a "new" ES45 with 3 CPU's, but it uses only one CPU.
The command "$ show cpu /brief" shows the following:
CPU 0 State: RUN CPUDB: 81032000 Handle: 00000B90
Owner: 00000640 Current: 00000640 Partition 0 (EGARA2)
Process: LLUIS PID: 26C00481
CPU 1 State: NOT_CONFIGURED CPUDB: * None * Handle: 00000E90
Owner: 00000640 Current: 00000640 Partition 0 (EGARA2)
CPU 2 State: NOT_CONFIGURED CPUDB: * None * Handle: 00001190
Owner: 00000640 Current: 00000640 Partition 0 (EGARA2)
How can we configure the other CPU's to run?
Thanks in advance,
Lluis

Re: ES45 - CPU not_configured
The CPU mask might be 1 and you probably shoudl just set it to 0xF --> 4 bits enabled.

Re: ES45 - CPU not_configured
"State: NOT_CONFIGURED " that refers to partitions, which i did not expect in the ES45.
Was that system set up for OpenVMS GALAXY?

Since it is a 'new' box, you may want to do a full reset and or even a firmware reload.
hth,
Hein.

SolutionOn OpenVMS, the CPUs are automatically configured unless disabled within an OpenVMS Galaxy, or the CPUs are unlicensed.
Do you have the requisite SMP licenses for these CPUs? Within typical OpenVMS Alpha environments, the SMP licenses combine with and add units to the base license.

An AlphaServer ES45 requires fifty units per processor; a three CPU system requires 150 units.
If the SRM console environment variable LP_COUNT is set non-zero, you'll want to set it to zero and INIT the processor; this is the knob that enables OpenVMS Galaxy.

Re: ES45 - CPU not_configured
The system is not set up for Galaxy.
As it is not able to buy an ES45 Alpha since April 2007, I wrote "new" because it seems a little strange, but hardware is really new.
We have 3 SMP licenses, 150 units as a result.
I think it is a hardware error, because at SRM level I can only see one CPU with "show config", but maybe I'm not be able to see hardware errors with the graphics monitor.
I'll contact with HP support.
Thank you,
Lluis
