HP OpenVMS Bootcamp in Nashua in 2006?

I'm trying to put together our 2006 budget and I would like to add money for what I consider to be the best and most informative IS oriented event, the OpenVMS Bootcamp (Symposium) in Nashua. Problem is that I can't find any info on the next bootcamp and I can't even pull up from the HP OpenVMS web site, the old info on the past bootcamp. Does anyone have info on how much the bootcamp costs and what date it is to be presented? A web link would be best.

thanks
Clark Powell

PS if your work involves OpenVMS and you are not attending the OpenVMS Bootcamp (Symposium) in Nashua you are really doing yourself a disservice. I have never attended any IS event that was as educational and useful as this one. And from what I remember, it is very cheap compared to all other commercial courses

Re: HP OpenVMS Bootcamp in Nashua in 2006?

Hi,

Just now I come to know abt this bootcamp event. Interesting!!!.

I found one of the previous (june 2005) "OpenVMS advanced technical bootcamp" info in the HP website.
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/symposium/index.html.

I am not sure this is the most recent Symposium.

Re: HP OpenVMS Bootcamp in Nashua in 2006?

Clark,

the next OpenVMS Bootcamp is supposed to be held starting 21-MAY-2006 in Nashua. I fully agree, that this is the most informative event presenting in-depth technical information about OpenVMS.

This year's bootcamp did cost 1295 USD, but the fee is supposed to increase for 2006.

Clark,
I believe the date given by Volker is correct.

This year's bootcamp did cost 1295 USD, but the fee is supposed to increase for 2006.

I thought I heard that the fee would be USD 1500. You should add of course costs for transport (airline, taxi) & hotel. Hotel costs were around USD 100 per night last year.

Count $110 per night - including taxes. Breakfast and lunch is included Monday-Friday, and dinner when engineers or partners are in (Tuesday and Thursday evening).
Free internet access in included as well.

Keep an eye on the HP OpenVMS page around Februari of March 2006, when the announcement will be published - including the agenda (but you need to take into account that "The agenda is fixed once the event is over").
The agenda of previous bootcamps is available, but I'm not sure about the data, since it is supplied to Bootcamps attendees only, since all is governed by a NDA (Non- Disclosure Agreement) you have to sign BEFORE attending.

Re: HP OpenVMS Bootcamp in Nashua in 2006?

Dear folks,

You have the correct dates and yes the price will increase to $1495 for the week. Also we are still planning on doing the free seminars the week before as well for Boot Camp attendees. Also I am speaking with the Oracle Rdb group about doing an Rdb forum either right before or right after the bootcamp.
Hope this helps.

Clark,

send an email to susan dot skonetski at hp dot com (replace dot and at).

Ask to be added to the mailing list. You will get LOTS of info, including the actual bootcamp info as-is at the moment of announcements.

ps. and YES, the bootcamp is amazing!
Be prepared for an exhausting week of information, and (VMS-related) FUN!

Proost.

Have one on me.

Thanks everyone for responding. I've got enough money allocated for 2 engineers to attend and I would ask for more if we could afford to all leave the site at once!
