Re: itanium rx6600 install
hardware.
"dka7" or DKA700?

What are you looking for?
What does a VMS "SHOW DEVICE D" say?
> but i can't boot from DVD.
How are you trying to do it? The "Internal
Bootable DVD" in your "boot option list"
looks to me like a DVD.
> (DVD driver is dkn0)
Says who?

Re: itanium rx6600 install
Assuming that you are using the internal SAS disc drives then you should check the configuration of the embedded SAS array controller. The device name "DKA7" is probably an integrated mirror array presented to the system by the embedded SAS array controller. It is possible that the "new disc" is in a slot marked for use as an integrated mirror spare.
I also recommend that you check the firmware versions of the machine and the embedded SAS array controller and upgrade them if necessary.
As for booting from the internal DVD - I would expect the device name to be DNA0. I recommend that you use the EFI menu to boot the machine from tyhe internal DVD drive. I have experienced problems booting if you have other devices plugged into USB sockets (even keyboards and mice!), so it is best to use the serial console port or to Telnet to the MP once you have set that up.
Booting manually from the EFI shell prompt is not recommended.
Good luck.

Re: itanium rx6600 install
EFI as implemented on Integrity is simply not a very friendly user interface. It's incredibly cryptic. You'll need to read about the details of EFI and become familiar with it, and particularly with how it has been implemented on Integrity servers. Google is your friend here, as are the Integrity system and OpenVMS installation manuals.
A document available from Colin Butcher might also help here, too. Download and skim:
