New Fiber Adapter Settings..

I have installed a new Fiber adapter and upgraded the firmware on the card. but when I move the cable from one card to another and reboot it cannot find the tape drives that are connected through the card. There is probably a lot of information needed, but this is what I can tell you.
open vms 7.3.2, kgpsa, firmware: SS3.20X7
it works on the other card in the server (same type and same Firmware.)

Let me know if there is anything I missed (I am sure there is)

Re: New Fiber Adapter Settings..

Well, every Fibre Channel adapter has a unique identity called WWN (World Wide name) which is similar to a MAC address.

It is possible that that adapter gets blocked right at the Fibre Channel switch port if WWN-based zoning is set up. Another possibility is LUN masking / device mapping within the Fibre Channel/SCSI bridge that connects a parallel-SCSI tape to the Fibre Channel infrastructure.

Re: New Fiber Adapter Settings..

I don't think there is any zoning on the Switch at all. Is there a web site that would have a manual. I am thinking it is a card setting, perhaps Speed, etc.

Re: New Fiber Adapter Settings..

Can you tell the switch model? HP uses 3 different vendors which have different command syntax.

From the firmware revision, it sounds like you have a KGPSA-BC Fibre Channel adapter, which is 1 GBit anyway.

I have not seen such a thing for some years now, but you might need to change the topology (from memory):
>>> wwidmgr -set adapter -item 9999 -topo fabric
