NFS CLIENT SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Windows Services for Unix (SFU)
Please anyone out there...........I need help in the worst possible way.
Has anyone out there been able to use the Microsoft Services for Unix v. 3.5 to connect to a OpenVMS NFS server and get it to work. I can see the shares thru the windows NFS client but I cannot map a drive to them due to the password issue associated with an PCFS account. I dont know if it is even possible to go thru the Windows NFS client and sync the UIC with Windows so that I can login underneath the correct username and password............I NEED HELP BAD!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Re: NFS CLIENT SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Windows Services for Unix (SFU)
I asume you have a PCNFS problem. Don't know the MS stuff but found these ancient ucx notes. Hope they help.
If the client is a PC that has no uid and no gid, it may access this node
using PCNFS. This means that the PC will sent a pc hostname, a vms username and
a vms password to the vms host. This host will verify if the user name and
password are valid on the node. If they are valid, a matching gid and uid are
looked up in NFS proxies (those proxies with the 2 numbers filled in, these are
the NFS logicals). The hostname and user name must match. The id's found here
are passed back to the pc. If no match is found, the uid=-2 and gid=-2 are
passed back (unknown user).
UCX>SHOW PROXY /HOST=PC_NAME_OR_IP_AD
UCX>ADD PROXY VMS_USER /HOST=PC_NAME_OR_IP_AD /UID=X/GID=Y.
If you have problems, do not forget to stop the PCNFS server !
On NT, the default user name passed is "enterprise" and this causes problems
because it is lower case. The -2 / -2 option is not known thus no access is
given. Try to use a UPPERCASE username + password on the NT side and set the
switch 'UPPERCASE' on yes. On the VMS side, define the user in UAF and UCX.
