No print color printouts with new printer - Black&White only

Color printouts worked with old printer, DEC Inkjet 250 BUT, now that we installed HP Business Inkjet 3000, we can not get color printouts. Old LAT print queue was deleted, new IP Print queue created. Printer is working fine when printing from MS Windows based systems. VMS Print queue is using default print library. Assume we need a library specific to this printer. Has anyone created a control library for any HP color printers or know what needs to be included in one?

You could look at DCPS which includes device control libraries for various printers. DCPS is a seperately installable layed product but is licenced with VMS (its free).http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/print/index.html

Sorry to disappoint you, but DCPS does not support inkjet printers, you can check the SPD via the OpenVMS homepage:

Btw. the new version V2.5, which is in fieldtest at the moment, doesn't support them either.

Hello Lynwood,

The HP Inkjet 3000 is a postscript printer so I agree with Ian when he suggests that you use DCPS. Section 5.34 in the current version of the OpenVMS FAQ document may be of interest to you.

If you have a business case for supporting this sort of printer then Mr.DCPS at hp would like to hear from you. On of the benifits of 'The new hp' is supposed to be that VMS support of printers improves.
