OpenVMS and SAN backup solutions

To all,

Please pardon another newbie question, but has anyone implemented a backup from an OpenVMS system through a Hitachi storage area network? If so, how much time has approximately 650 GB taken?

TIA,

We are about to, and I get nervous about the quality of answers from the HDS "experts".

If you look through all of their techhnical documentation for information on OpenVMS Support, the only comment you get is "Yes".

Re: OpenVMS and SAN backup solutions

Hi Chuck,

We are using a HDS san with McData switches and ADIC tape libraries with OpenVMS (Yes, I know, it seems to be company policy to select equipment which is not supported by OpenVMS).

Anyway, backups in this contraption, with SDLT drives, runs about 50 GB per hour, per backup stream. I cannot give accumulated data because I have no insight about how many backups are run in paralell.

And indeed, "yes" is about as much as HDS can give you as support.
