Re: 'OpenVMS v7.3-1 with TIMA update kit',What's the means of TIMA?
Hein has translated the TIMA acronym.
As for the other question that can be inferred here, this "plus TIMA" reference means installing the current mandatory patch kits for V7.3-1 to reach the minimum software requirements for this system, or (better) installing V7.3-2 with patches, or (best) V8.3 with patches. V7.3-2 has Prior Version Support (PVS) status, and V8.3 is the current OpenVMS Alpha release. All of these releases have full support for the AlphaServer ES47, ES80 and GS1280 series processors. V7.3-1 is no longer supported.
The master ECO (Engineering Change Order; effectively yet another name for patches) listing has the various kits to install, and the AlphaServer ES47 series systems also require the VMS731_CPU270F-V0200 kit. The Master ECO listing and the kits for V7.3-1 are at:
ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/openvms_patches/alpha/V7.3-1
Processors that arrive near or after an OpenVMS release but that can boot and can operate with that release sufficiently to install the requisite patch kits can and do see this "plus TIMA" notation.
